What should you choose before entering Hometown?
Choose the number of players first, then select a difficulty and customize your avatar. Pick a partner for the visit. These are not all permanent decisions: the Make-Up Salon on the third floor of the Shopping Mall changes appearance, and the Partner Room in the Photo Studio changes partners. Difficulty can be selected again when starting a game.

Where should your first visit take you?
Begin with the Game Park to see the board-game reception and Minigame Corner. Visit the Shopping Mall when you have coins, and open the Game Pad to inspect the tools you currently carry. More facilities become usable as you progress, so a facility that is not yet available is not necessarily a broken interaction.
How do you avoid confusing the different activities?
Minigames are cooperative group activities. Petit Games are solo activities shown on a player’s Game Pad while the others can move freely. Board games use shared objectives and a limited number of days. Choose the kind of session you want before gathering friends; the online room also requires registered Friends and Nintendo Switch Online.
